During the lesson:
The teacher gives students the time to think about content.
This is an ideal activity while reading passages, watching a video or listening to an audio recording or speaker.
Students form a group and they:
-summarize what they're learning
-discuss interesting lesson topics
-ask one another about "unclear" concepts or ideas
-make predictions of what they'll learn next
Teachers should note that pausing periodically for discussion during complex lectures will allow students time to "fix" new information into their memory.

Examples of questions that will be posted on the board to guide discussion are:
~I changed my attitude about…
~I became more aware of…
~I was surprised about…
~I felt…
~I related to…
~I empathized with…
Students will be placed into groups of 3 and given instruction to think together about 3 of the statements. After 3 minutes, we will voluntarily discuss our thoughts as a class.
This activity is helpful to motivate student participation.
