Popsicle Stick
Teachers have wooden popsicle sticks for each student. The sticks have students' names on each one of them or they have a number on them that represents each student.
The sticks are kept in a pencil container or can. When the teacher asks a question, one stick belonging to a student is selected. After the stick is selected, it can be placed back in the container or set aside.
The student chosen has to complete the problem on the board.

A Fair yet random way to choose students for participation. I will utilize this strategy to determine who reads aloud or completes the next illustration on the board.
